The Harpoon Worcester Beer Garden will be back for its second season as soon as Friday, May 5.
The beer garden at Mercantile Plaza opened for the first time last summer and was a popular destination for customers to enjoy a drink, play yard games and listen to live music.
Josh Briggs, who operates the beer garden for Harpoon Brewing, said everything at the beer garden will be pretty much the same as last year.
In addition to Harpoon beers, last year the beer garden served local craft brews, wine, Polar seltzers and “frosé,” and had a menu of light snacks such as cheese and charcuterie, hummus and pita bread, chips, guacamole and salsa, trail mix, chocolate chip cookies and ice cream sandwiches. A stage provided a location for live music and DJ sets, and areas with astroturf were set up for cornhole games. A tent provided shelter on rainy days.
The beer garden will go to the city’s License Commission on Thursday to request approval for liquor and entertainment licenses for the season. Briggs said if all goes well, they will begin the process of setting up at Mercantile Plaza that day.
Harpoon Worcester Beer Garden will be open Thursday & Friday from 4PM – 11:30PM and Saturday & Sunday from 12PM – 11:30PM.
Briggs is also the co-owner of Reunion Tap and Table in Grafton, which opened a second location last month in Whitinsville.
